About Us

Established years ago by Paul Grittner, the Turbotville location was operated as Grittner Funeral Home until 1967. Following Paul's death, William F. Brooks purchased the funeral home and renamed the Turbotville location as Wm. F. Brooks Funeral Home. Mr. Brooks retired in 1998 when Julie became active again in the funeral business, purchasing the funeral home from her father in September 1998. In 2020 the business was sold to her son, Sean, who has been a funeral director with the firm since 2017.

In 2003 we expanded our services in the area by purchasing the former Herbert E. Barr Funeral Home at 124 Main Street, Watsontown following the death of Herb's wife, Helen. That location is now operated as Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., PC in order to continue serving families in Watsontown and the surrounding communities.

Our mission statement . . .

Our goal here at Brooks Funeral Home is to provide compassionate, professional services to those who have lost a loved one, to provide reverent and respectful disposition of the dead in accordance with state and public health regulations, and to guide grieving families with confidence and support thru decisions they must make at such a difficult time.

We are deeply mindful of the trust placed in us as your choice of funeral directors, and will strive to provide you the comfort and security of knowing your wishes will be our priority.
