William Monroe Michael, Sr., 81, lifelong resident of Watsontown, a community he loved and supported, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at home.

Born May 18, 1943 in Milton, he was a son of the late Monroe and Sara Michael.

Bill was a 1961 graduate of Milton High School. After graduation, he worked at Clemens Machine Shop, and later, JB Gibbons Construction. The majority of his career was spent working for Delaware Township as the Secretary and Treasurer, which is where he retired after 43 years of service.

Bill was very proud to be part of numerous community organizations, volunteering and serving on their boards: Milton Regional Sewer Authority, Warrior Run Area Fire Department, and the annual Fireman’s Carnival. He was also a life member of F&AM Lodge 256 Milton, earning his 60 year pin; social member of the Turbotville VFW Post8206; Sons of American Legion Post841, Milton/Montandon; NRA; Warrior Run Royal Arch Chapter #246 RAM; and a recipient of the Valley of Williamsport 50 years Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite award.  Bill was a member of the Follmer Lutheran Church, Milton.

Serving as a PIAA official for football, Bill loved sports, especially when he was able to watch his grandchildren play. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his cabin.

Bill is survived by his wife of 25 years, Shirley (Satteson) Michael; two daughters, LeeAnne (Frank) Hosking, Jr. and family; DeeAnne (Frank) Pohlmann and family; a son, William (Kellie) Michael, Jr. and family; a step-daughter, Tammy (Thomas) Long and family; and a step-son, Robert (Michele Ryan) Stamm Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Michael, a brother, James Michael, and a sister, Donna Patterson.  

There will be a celebration of life service held at the convenience of the family.
