William E. "Bill" Messinger, 96, of Watsontown, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 4, 1927 in Dewart, he was the son of the late Isaac N. and Hannah E. (Hanley) Messinger. On June 25, 1994 he married the former Georgiene L. Mottern and together they have celebrated 29 years of marriage.
He had worked at the Watsontown Brick Company, and later retired from American Home Foods in Milton. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served with the Seabees.
He enjoyed watching baseball and football, reading the newspaper, and telling stories of his life from his childhood. His favorite color was red. Bill enjoyed the parades in Watsontown, and going to the former Country Cupboard Restaurant every Sunday.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons: Tom Messinger and his wife Edna, Richard Messinger, John Crumb and his wife Heather, and Charles Crumb and his wife Patricia; three daughters: Emma Agajanian and her husband Jeff, Sandy Murray and her husband Richard, and Jonnie Potter and her husband Greg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were a daughter, Karen Musselwhite; three brothers: John, Richard, and Frank Messinger; and two sisters: Glady Steffen and Sarah Straub.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service with military honors accorded by combined veteran's organizations on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Watsontown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either Your Loving Choices, 904 Market Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or a local charity of one's choice.
