Viola Kathryn Pfleegor, 93, of Turbotville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at her home.
Born April 6, 1933 in Watsontown, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Kathryn E. (Moll) Gainey. On October 25, 1952 she married her childhood sweetheart, John S. Pfleegor and together celebrated 69 years of marriage until his passing in 2022.
Viola grew up on a dairy farm at Schuyler as an only child, and graduated from Turbotville High School in 1951. She then earned an Associate Degree in Dietetic Technician from WACC (Williamsport Area Community College). She worked and retired from RiverWoods in Lewisburg, where she was a Food Service Director for over 18 years.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville since 1962, and was a member of California Grange 941. Viola volunteered, serving as a 4-H club leader, board member of Montour Delong Community Fair, and Judge of Elections for Lewis Township.
Viola worked alongside her husband, John, on the family farm on Comly Road, which was known for growing and selling, strawberries and sweet corn. In her retirement she enjoyed caning many chairs and was happy to demonstrate caning at the Bloomsburg Fair and Warrior Run Heritage Days.
Viola is survived by her 3 daughters and a son: Ann Mull, Gail (Richard) Moser, Julie (Jay) Raup, and Mark (Diana) Pfleegor; daughter-in-law: Amy Pfleegor; 12 grandchildren: Becky Rhodes, Chris Mull, Tim Mull, Sarah Moser, Greg Moser, Joey Wise, Jason Pfleegor, Emily Pfleegor, Molly Ritter, Shawn Pfleegor, Zachary Raup, and Katie Raup, 3 step grandchildren: Shannon Reinard, Jeff Dauberman, and Wade Dauberman, 23 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband, John, and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: John M. Pfleegor; and 3 grandchildren: Jeremy Pfleegor, Megan Raup, and Katerina Wise.
Friends are invited to call from, 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, May 9 at Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise Street, Turbotville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with her pastor, Rev. Erwin C. Roux, officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
