Sandra H. “Sandy” Long, 75, of Milton, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Watsontown Health & Rehabilitation Center, Watsontown.
Born June 6, 1948 in Klingerstown, she was the daughter of the late Rue and Helen (Romberger) Erdman. On July 28, 1973 she married Alan W. Long, and together they celebrated 36 years of marriage until his passing in 2009.
Sandy was a 1966 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, and a 1970 graduate of Kutztown University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
She worked as a Head Start Teacher and Supervisor for the CSIU in Milton. Earlier in life, she was a girl scout leader in the Klingerstown area.
Sandy was a member of Montandon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cross-stitch, puzzles, and hosting family and friends. She was a helping hand to many families.
Sandy is survived by a son, Christopher Long and his wife Diane, Turbotville; a sister, Stella Bingman, Dalmatia; two grandchildren, Ashley and Caleb Long, Turbotville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy was preceded in death by a sister, LaRue Machamer, and a brother, Rue Erdman, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville and 12-1 on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, 2985 Broadway Road, Milton, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00PM, with pastors Jim Lewis and Carol Haas, officiating. Burial will follow in Montandon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Sandy’s memory be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
