Russell R. Ranck, 88, of Watsontown, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born November 2, 1930 in Allenwood, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Winifred (Rishel) Ranck. On September 9, 1950 he married the former Shilrey J. Riggle and they have celebrated 68 years of marriage.
He was a self-employed carpenter most of his working years and a member of White Deer Valley Baptist Church, Allenwood.
Russell enjoyed hunting. After he retired he liked to tap maple trees and boil the sap that was collected into maple syrup. He also liked driving his ponies and taking anyone who might have stopped him for a ride. Family was his first love and he enjoyed being at all the family functions whether they were big or small. He will be missed by many.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah J. and Dan Masser of Allenwood; Susan L. and Craig Pullon of Byars, OK; and Diane A. and Gary Saul of Catawissa; a son and daughter-in-law: Steve A. and Kimberly Ranck of Muncy; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Ralph Ranck of Montgomery and a sister, Virginia Ocker of Montoursville.
Preceding him in death was a son, Keith A. Ranck; two brothers: Arthur and Forest Ranck; and three sisters: Thelma Bieber, Pauline Staggert, and Phyllis Bower.
Family and friends are invited to call from 1 to 2:00 PM Saturday at White Deer Valley Baptist Church, Allenwood where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Michael Deal, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
