Obituary

Philip A. Asher, Sr., 79, of Allenwood, peacefully passed away with his family by his side, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at home.

Born October 12, 1942, in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of the late Francis and Grace (Schmidt) Asher.  On September 3, 2005, he married the former Mary Ann Allis and together they have celebrated 16 years of marriage. 

Philip was a graduate of Ft. Lauderdale High School, after which, he honorably served 2 years during the Vietnam War, where he was an Army Airborne Ranger in the 173rd Airborne Brigade.  He then went on to work and retire from Spencer Trucking, Watsontown, with over 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Watsontown American Legion, Post 323.  Philip was a no-nonsense kind of man, with a big, generous heart.  He loved his cats and listening to music.  He always enjoyed spending time on his front porch with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, he is survived by two sons: John Asher, of California, and Philip Asher, Jr., of Rocky Ford, GA; three daughters: Sandi L. Asher, of TN, Natalie L. Asher, of Watsontown, and Mary E. Asher, of Talkeetna, AK; two step-sons: Dennis Reeve, of Herrickville, and Nathaniel Reeve, of Blossburg; two step-daughters: Lori Hardy, of Hunlock Creek, and Temperance “Tempy” Raymond, of Rome, PA; thirty grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister: Marlene Patmore, of Annapolis, MD.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were a brother, Sonny Asher, and sister, Joan Asher.

A life celebration service will be planned at a later date.
