Pete Strous Obituary

Pete Strous, 54, of Watsontown, passed away peacefully Friday, May 16, 2025 at his home.

Born March 26, 1971 in Danville, he was the son of the late David E. Strous, Jr. and Kathryn L. (Straub) Gerst.  On October 17, 2008 he married the former Tonya L. DePhillips and they have celebrated 16 years of marriage.

At a young age his father remarried and Pete was raised by his "mom", Elaine M. Strous, while his father drove cross-country in his truck.  Growing up with a tractor-trailer in the driveway, Pete was under the hood and behind the wheel as often as his dad would allow, and he followed in his father's footsteps with his passion for truck driving.  He most recently purchased his own truck and became the owner/operator of Strous Transport, LLC of Watsontown.

Pete was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He loved shooting trap/skeet with his sons and friends, competing against his family in corn-hole, camping, family game nights, and was always playing practical jokes.  He will be missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Surviving besides his wife, Tonya Strous of Watsontown are two daughters: Heather Wetzel and husband Brad of Mifflinburg and Jenna L. DePhillips and her significant other, Tyler Germer of Milton; two sons: Brandon A. Strous and his significant other, McKenna Dauberman and Sean M. Strous, all of Watsontown; Three grandchildren: Bentley, Natalia, and Grayson; a sister, Rene Toro and her husband Orlando of Watsontown; a step-sister, Sherry L. Asprey of Muncy; his mother-in-law, Judy DePhillips and her significant other, Dean Sanders; brother-in-law, Nicholas DePhillips and his significant other Stephanie Markley of Northumberland; paternal aunts, Debra Strous of Monroe Twp., NJ and Lois Strous of McSherrystown; nephew, Jason Kline and his wife Kelly of Horseheads, NY; niece, Jessica Jacka and her husband Zach of Chesterfield, VA; great-nieces and nephews: Jaide, Bailey, Aubreigh, Paislie, Corri, and Connor; and several cousins.

Preceding him in death besides his father, David E. Strous, Jr., and his "mom", Elaine M. Strous, was a sister, Sherry Lynn Strous, father-in-law Donald A. DePhillips and his birth-mother, Kathryn L. "Kitty" Gerst.
