Pearl Smith Obituary

Pearl E. Smith, 78, of Shale Rd, Danville, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Muncy Valley Hospital.

Born May 9, 1940, in Williamsport she was the daughter of the late James and Minnie (Fox) Schon.  On March 30, 1963 she married Wayne K. Smith and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Pearl was a 1958 graduate of Williamsport High School. For many years she was employed as a bookkeeper. She was last employed by Northrup Grumman from which she retired.

Pearl was a member of White Hall Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess.  Pearl was also the Treasurer for her church's American Baptist Women organization.

She loved reading, playing cards and board games with her friends. Recently in retirement she enjoyed traveling, socializing and going out to eat.

In addition to her husband, Wayne, she is survived by her two daughters: Cindy English and her husband Barry, of Turbotville, and Sonya Kessler and her husband Richard, of Bristow, VA; two grandchildren: Ryan English and his wife Audrey, and Caroline Kessler; two great-grandchildren:  Christian and Elsie English; four sisters:  Sara Schmohl, Cora Keener and her husband Lester, Kathryn Stoner and her husband Benjamin, and Mary Curchoe and her husband Roy; and two sisters-in-law: Kay Schon and Pat Schon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson: Reuben E. English; seven brothers: Charles, Cecil, Harold, James, Blanchard, H. Robert, and Richard Schon; and one sister: Gladys Bower.

Friends and family are invited to call from 9 to 11 AM, Wednesday, December 12, at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with her pastor, Rev. Robert Ayars, officiating.  Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Pearl’s memory can be made to her church, White Hall Baptist Church, 699 White Hall Road, Danville PA, 17821.
