Michael H. “Mike” Benfer, 74, of Watsontown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Gatehouse Hospice at Divine Providence Hospital.

Born August 21, 1949 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Henry K. and Margaret (Burrows) Benfer.  On November 29, 1969 he married the former Rhonda L. Allabach and together they have celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of Warrior Run High School.  After high school, he enlisted and served honorably in the US Navy from July 1969 to July 1973.  He worked for the former New Columbia Joist, and now CECO for over 20 years; then worked at Susquehanna Fire Co., Dewart for over 20 years.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Warrior Run Fire Department, and the Watsontown Rod & Gun Club.  Also, Mike was a life member of the Watsontown American Legion Post #323.

Mike was an umpire for Little League Baseball, and was a PIAA Official in Football.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the cabin; and he was a hunter safety program member.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Rhonda, he is survived by three daughters:  Danielle R. Seidel and her husband Rod, of Danville, Andrea R. Benfer, and Corinne A. Boyer, both of Watsontown; four grandchildren: Tyler, Nicholas, and Nathan Seidel, and Lyla Carstetter; and one sister:  Mary Lou Foresman, of Muncy.

Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Tammie J. Printzenhoff
