Mary Jane (Hoy) Zelna

Mary Jane Zelna, 88, formerly of West Milton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at WeCare Loyalsock.

Born September 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John Howard Hoy and Nellie (Ellis) Deitrick, and lived her early life in the Schuyler area of Montour County.  She was married to Marvin E. Betz and later Raymond Zelna, who both preceded her in death.

Mary Jane was employed with Montgomery Mills, Philco-Ford (Zenith), Pennsylvania House, Rea and Derrick Drug Store, Dr. Philip Lanford, Farmer's Best and Wal-Mart.  She enjoyed her time of employment at the places where she had the most contact with people from the local communities.

Mary Jane was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the friendships she made there.

She is survived by her children:  Lacinda Betz Coup (R. Jeffery), of Milton, Suzanne Mae Mutschler (Gary), of New Columbia, David John Betz (Joey), of Watsontown, and Douglas Marvin Betz (Robin), of Nesbit; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are two siblings: Peggy Weaver of Millsboro, DE and John Howard Hoy, Jr. of Turbotville; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ann Robenolt and Shirley Mae Kocher.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor David McCarty, officiating.  Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
