Martha Jane Bergman, 102, passed away on October 9, 2023 at Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation in Watsontown. She was born January 22, 1921 in Turbotville to the late William and Mae Yerg and was raised by her grandparents John W. and Harriet M. Yerg in Turbotville.
Jane married Edwin Nils (Slim) Bergman December 1941 in the Williamsport Parsonage on 3rd Street. Jane graduated from Turbotville High School, furthered her education by going to the Philadelphia Beauty School, graduating in 1940.
Jane loved to knit and crochet, making many handcrafted items for her family. Jane was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, Watsontown for over 60 years until her sight and hearing started to fail her.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ellen of Watsontown and Robert Edwin of Uniontown, Ohio; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, a son, William, and a daughter-in-law, Roberta.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown, where the funeral service will be held 11:00AM on Friday, October 13, with retired Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
