Martha E. Cotner, 73, of rural Turbotville, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 peacefully at her home.
Born February 12, 1950 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late W. David and Ethel (Hack) McMichael. On November 2, 1968 she married Kenneth C. Cotner and they have celebrated 54 years of marriage.
She was a graduate of Danville High School and retired from Lakeville Specialty Produce, Washingtonville where she had worked for 22 years. She was a former member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Strawberry Ridge and had served on the church board. She was a volunteer with the suppers held at the Montour DeLong Fair and at the church, enjoyed crafts, flower gardening, and scrapbooking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving besides her husband are two children: Diane Hartley and her husband Ted of New Columbia and Kenneth Cotner, Jr. and his wife Jill of Turbotville; two grandchildren: Melanie (Matt) Matter of Bloomsburg and Benjamin Hartley of New Columbia; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Matter; four brothers: Raymond McMichael of Milton, Harold (Diane) McMichael and Clarence (Christine) McMichael, all of Danville, and Allen McMichael of Turbotville; and a sister, Margaret Hoffman of Danville.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 26 at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville where the funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Scott Bartholomew, Watsontown Alliance Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to either the Danville SPCA or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
