Marjorie Schooley Obituary

Marjorie Mae Schooley, 88, of Friendswood, TX, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

She was born on August 10, 1937 in Muncy, PA to Harry E. and VeAnna M. (Robb) Kurtz. She was married to James Merle Schooley until his death on May 14, 2011.

Marjorie graduated from Watsontown High School in 1956. She married Jim at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watsontown, PA on June 6, 1958. After getting married in Pennsylvania, they lived in Virginia, New York, and California before finally settling in Texas. They were longtime and faithful members of St. Stephen’s / New Life Lutheran Church in Pearland, TX. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008.

Marjorie loved all types of sewing, knitting, embroidery, and cross-stitching. She crocheted many baby blankets and prayer shawls for her church. She loved baking and cooking and growing her own vegetable garden every year. She enjoyed organizing church luncheons and being a part of her congregation’s Altar Guild and Bereavement Ministry. She always loved just spending time with her friends and especially her family.

Marjorie is survived by her two sons, Roger of Pearland, TX and Ronald of Cypress, TX, as well as her brother Eugene Kurtz of Watsontown, PA and her sister Lucille Cipriani of Montgomery, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Marjorie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her kind and wonderful spirit.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Twin Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Muncy, PA. A luncheon will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church immediately following the graveside service. Everyone is welcome at either or both events.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at New Life Lutheran Church in Pearland, TX. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the memorial service. Everyone is welcome at either or both events.
