Marion Watts Newton Obituary

Marion Watts Newton, 95, of Lewisburg, went home to her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2025 at Riverwoods Assisted Living.

Born January 20, 1930 to Frank and Lizzie Pfleegor She graduated from Milton High school in 1948. Marion married William “Bill” Watts on August 29, 1948 and moved to the farm outside of Turbotville. Marion and Bill gave their complete devotion to Jesus and would serve Him in several different churches. Together they loved Jesus by loving others.

Marion worked at the sewing factory in Turbotville, as a home health aide, an interviewer and hosted color analysis parties.

One of the great loves of Marion was her love for God’s Word. She faithfully shared God’s Word with others. She wanted to make sure those she loved knew about Jesus and how to get to heaven.

Another great love of Marion was music.  She would put scripture to familiar tunes and teach them to others. She would randomly break out into singing when things would get tough or frightening. She made sure her children were given the gift of music lessons.

In December 1985, at the age of 55 she became a widow. During those years she took the opportunity to travel to the Holy Lands, spend several months in Paraguay with her foreign exchange daughter, take a mission trip to Mexico, travel to Alaska and visit family in Oregon.

In 2000 she married Robert “Bob” Newton Sr.  They resided in Watsontown and were married for 18 years before his passing.  She enjoyed their travels to Florida and NY for “Word of Life” conferences.

In 2017, Marion experienced some health issues and moved to assisted living at Riverwoods.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, both of her husbands, a son in law Aaron Ritter, a daughter in law Linda Watts, 3 grandsons (Benji Hawk, Brett Bittner and Timothy Watts) and a granddaughter Lacey Jane Ritter.

Those who remain to carry on her legacy of loving Jesus by loving people are her children:  Randy (Betsy) Watts of Turbotville PA, David Watts of Newmantown PA, Jane (Mark) Bittner of Lewisburg PA, Julie Ritter of Hughesville PA, Debbie (Phil) Hawk of Portland OR and Zulma (Juan) Carballar of Paraguay SA, 22 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.  As well as 2 step children Robert “Bobby” (Edna) Newton jr of Watsontown and Kathy Newton of Watsontown and 2 step granddaughters and 2 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great-grandson.

A viewing will be held on December 29 starting at 10:00 at Fairview Church of the Nazarene, 4077 Muncy Exchange Road, Turbotville, PA with the service to follow at 11:00.  Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
