On this day, July 6, 2020, Jesus opened his arms to greet Mabel L. Jones. Born to the late Reid and Lura Joines of York County.
She was the third child and first girl in a family of 15 children, 12 of which are still living. She was making biscuits at the age of 9 and “tending to babies” while her parents worked the fields. She survived the hardships of the depression with her abilities of making the most out of a little. Mom’s Skills of cooking and sewing continued throughout her life. She was known for her southern cooking and her southern accent. She made beautiful yo, yo quilts for “special people” in her life many taking a year to complete.
But the Lord reigned supreme and she let you know it. “We all need Jesus” she said! She was a prayer warrior and if she was praying for you, Look Out! She worked in her garden until she was 91, not stopping until all the weeds were gone.
She was a five generation Nanny, loving all her family in a very special way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. But those who love Jesus will see her again in paradise. We Love You.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown. www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com
