Leland Moore Obituary

Leland Dean Moore, 97 passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

Born August 30, 1927 in West Milton, he was the son of the late Hatten and Mary (Huffman) Moore.  On September 6, 1946 he married the former Betty R. Weikel and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage until her passing on July 8, 2004.

Leland attended Milton High School, afterwards he served honorable in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  Once he returned home, he worked in auto detailing at Alvin Bush Motors and then moved to auto body repair until the business closed.  He also worked at Frito Lay in Williamsport and later at Grumman’s in Montgomery from where he retired.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Leland enjoyed fishing, hunting, working puzzles, dancing, going on cruises and trips to the beach.  He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Montgomery.

Leland will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and caregivers.  His memory will live on in the hearts of the so many who knew him.

Surviving are his two daughters: Darlene (John) Bingaman, of Lewisburg, and Bonnie (Paul) Shadle, of North Carolina; four grandchildren: Richard (Nancy) Secules, and their children, Eric, Jennifer, Stephen and Amanda; Sherry (Patrick) Styersand their children, Felicia and Courtney; Pamela Gates, and her children, Kaitlyn and Mackenzie; and Stephanie (Judd) Wuerdeman and their children, Mason, Kaden and Adisyn; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Betty, and his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Hatten Jr., Robert, and Bernard Moore; and two sisters: Alverna Miller and Betty Swartz.

A private ceremony to celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
