June L. Barnwell, 91, of Watsontown, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born April 17, 1932 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Martin) Taylor. On September 15, 1950 she married Carl F. Barnwell, Sr. and they celebrated 42 years of marriage until his death on September 29, 1992.
She had attended Watsontown High School and was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, watching professional wrestling and doing puzzles, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving is a son, David A. Barnwell and three daughters: Margaret E. Waite and her husband Gary; Carol A. Barnwell, and Patricia E. Barnwell, all of Watsontown; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, James R. Taylor of Turbotville and a sister, Laranne Taylor of Watsontown. She is also survived by her "grand-dog", Duke.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were three sons: Carl, Jr., Thomas E., and James R. Barnwell; a sister, Nancy Emery and a brother, William Taylor.
Family and friend are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to one's local SPCA.
