Joyce O. (Tilley) Tarr

Joyce O. Tarr, 91, of Danville, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Born Olga Motie Joyce Tilley on September 11, 1931 to John and Alice (Tilley) Tilley in Kelligrews, Newfoundland Canada.

After attending local public schools, she went on to briefly study at a nursing school in St. John’s Newfoundland. With permission from her father, she left Canada, and moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1954 and soon became a proud United States citizen. In 1955, Joyce met Edwin in Pittsburgh and married on February 9 of that year. After raising her family, Joyce spent her free time quilting and traveling.

Joyce was predeceased by her brothers Godden Murry Tilley, John Tilley and Vernon John Clifton Tilley.

Joyce is survived by her husband Edwin, children Lon (Cindy Murray) Tarr, Bonnie Lee (Perry) Ricciardi and Randy (Jane Hardwick) Tarr; grandchildren Brandon, Jared, Jennifer, Justin and Taylor; great-grandchildren Leila, Madison, Maci, Kinsley, Avery, Brennan, Finley and Hadley.

Friends and relatives will be received at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave, Oakmont, PA on Friday, October 28 at 11:30 to time of noon Service in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Conklin officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Dementia Society of America.
