John Dale "Bird" Smith

John Dale “Bird” Smith, 62, of Watsontown, PA and formerly of Sugarcreek, died Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his residence in PA.

He was born in Dover on September 6, 1956 to Dale Smith of Newcomerstown and the late Lillian (Stress) Smith and married Lois Yoder on October 5, 1987 and she survives.

He worked for Exco Resources for the past 35 years. He loved his job, his Jeep, going to his cabin in Pennsylvania and going on cruises. He had attended New Pointe Community Church in Dover until moving to PA. 

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Heather (Zac) Donehue of Sherrodsville and Tara (Aaron) Mast of Charleston, South Carolina; his granddaughter, Gracelyn Donehue; and his two sisters, Judy (Mike) Frutig of Dover and Kathy (Mark) Miller of Sugarcreek.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor David Stutzman officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
