John E. Shutt

John E. Shutt, 90, of Muncy and formerly West Milton, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at home.

Born August 17, 1934 in Danville, he was a son of the late Leroy and Mary Jane (Riley) DeHart. On January 5, 1953 he married the former Janet G. Reedy and together they would have celebrated 72 years of marriage.

John was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School where he played on the first Milton Little League All Star Team in 1947. Afterwards, he joined the U.S. Navy and honorably served his country for 4 years. John retired from W.A. DeHart, New Columbia.

An avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt turkey and deer, as well as take walks into the woods and fields, John was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., and National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

Above all else, John cherished his wonderful family.

In addition to his wife, Janet of Muncy, John is survived by three daughters, Patricia Engelman and her husband, David, Muncy; Leslie Valentine and her husband, Greg, Montandon; and Lisa Libby and her husband, Del, Gardners; a daughter-in-law, Julie Shutt, Montandon; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Shutt in 2020.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no services. The family suggests contributions in his memory should be made to a charity of your choice.
