Joel A. Bierly Sr., 71, of Watsontown, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born August 21, 1954 in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late Kenneth E. and Thelma L. (Waddell) Bierly. On December 28, 1985 he married the former Mary Jane Horton, and together they have celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Joel loved going to church previously attending Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, Watsontown and most recently at Fairview Church of the Nazarene, Turbotville. He was a very skilled diesel mechanic and was an owner/operator truck driver. Joel and Mary enjoyed working on their small farm together.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by two children: Jolene Bierly, of Willow Grove, PA, and Joel A. Bierly Jr. and his wife Ashley, of White Deer; one granddaughter: Faith Bierly; and one brother: Jeff Bierly and his wife Sue, of Newburn, NC.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Michael, John, and Jerry Bierly; and two sisters: Kitty Lower and Karen Carpenter.
There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, May 9, at Fairview Church of the Nazarene, 4477 Muncy Exchange Rd, Turbotville, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Marjorie Fisk, officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to the family to assist with expenses.
