Jean E. (Booth) Gelbaugh

Jean E. Gelbaugh, 80, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Valley View Nursing Home, Montoursville.

Born September 11, 1944 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Bartram R. and Constance E. (Ryder) Booth.  She was married to Donald Gelbaugh for 17 years until his passing in 2011.

Jean was a 1962 graduate of Warrior Run High School, then received her bachelors from Bloomsburg State Teachers College and her master’s degree from Shippensburg University.  She worked for Mechanicsburg Area School District for 39 years, teaching in the math department.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, camping, beadwork and knitting.

Jean is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Mary Scholl, Kay Shambaugh, Joy Reaser and her husband Ed, and David Stahl; two stepsons: Todd and Mitch Gelbaugh as well as numerous other stepchildren; five nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth J. Stahl.

Services will be held at a later date.
