Helen B. "Gaugie" Adams, 83, of Montgomery, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at her home.
Born November 5, 1940 in Turbot Twp., Northumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late John and Mable (Clark) Maust. On August 24, 1958 she married Gary E. “Pap” Adams and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage until his passing on October 25, 2023.
Helen was a 1958 graduate of Watsontown High School. She worked at Montgomery Mills, Zenith in Watsontown, Montgomery Sportswear, and for Lending Textile in Montgomery. Helen was a proud den mother, band parent and member of the Montgomery Booster Club. Also, she was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
She enjoyed sewing, baking wedding cakes, camping, and yard sales. Helen also was an avid reader, and owl and rooster collector. Most of all she loved spending time with her entire family. She was affectionately known as Gaugie by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Gary "Pat" Adams and his wife Angelia of Montgomery; four daughters: Robin T. Hessel and Kandi Y. Winder and her husband Jeff, all of Watsontown; Linda M. Moser of Montgomery, and Bethanie R. Dickerson and her husband Dennis of Shinglehouse; eight grandchildren: Melissa and Logan Hessel; Chelsea Goss, Krista Roman, Jocelyn Moser, and Arthur, Lucas, and Simon Dickerson; and six great-grandchildren: Liam, Brody, Cooper, Cade, Weston, and Elwood; one brother: David Coup Jr., of Milton; one sister: Sharon Johnson, of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Gary, she was preceded in death by a son: David F. Adams; a son-in-law: John Hessel; brother: Larry Maust; and two sisters: JoAnn Green and Sandra Goodenough.
There will be a Celebration of Helen’s Life held from 12 to 2 pm, on Sunday February 11, at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.
