Harold E. Shoemaker, 85, of Watsontown, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born July 10, 1939 in McEwensville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Irene (Pick) Shoemaker. On December 4, 1965 he married the former Ruth M. Glidewell and they have celebrated 58 years of marriage.
He had worked at Watsontown Products and at Clarks Feed Mill in Turbotville. He was a social member of the Watsontown American Legion, a lifetime member of the Warrior Run Fire Department, and a member of Trinty United Church of Christ, Watsontown.
He enjoyed hunting, word-search puzzles, and watching NASCAR and western movies on television.
Surviving besides his wife, Ruth Shoemaker, at home, is a daughter, Karen A. Schatz of Columbia, PA; a son, Eugene R. Shoemaker and his wife Brenda of Williamsport; five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and three sisters: Dorothy McNett of Montoursville, Doris Gifford of Milton, and Charlotte Williams of Mercer.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a son-in-law, Todd C. Schatz, three sisters: Jean Springman, Lois Catherman, and Ruth Metzger and three brothers: Thomas, Roland, and Marvin Shoemaker.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Shawn McNett of Strawberry United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
