Gordon R. “Bob” Wertz, 99, of White Deer Pike, New Columbia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at his home.

Born July 21, 1924 in White Deer Twp., Union Co., he was the son of the late Daniel and Nora (Reedy) Wertz. On March 19, 1954 he married the former Irene M. Kline, and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage until her passing on September 13, 2010.

Bob owned and operated Wertz’ Saw Mill in New Columbia for over 40 years. He was a member of the Milton Moose Lodge #171, and the Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401.

Bob is survived by his daughter: Kathy Kirchner; granddaughter: Autumn Kirchner; one brother: Jack Wertz and his wife Carolyn; and four sisters: Martha Newman, Charlotte Prowant, Pat Zettlemoyer, and Francis Mills.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his two sons: Keith R. Wertz and Scott L. Wertz; and two sisters: Freda Burrows and Phyllis Foust.

There will be a graveside service held privately at Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
