Frederick Nelson Cotner, 88, of McEwensville, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019.
Born October 10, 1930 in Montour County, he was the son of the late Nelson and Rena (Crawford) Cotner. He graduated from the former Turbotville High School in 1948.
He married his loving wife of nearly six years, Joanne Cotner, on September 28, 2013. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille V. (Seidel) Cotner in 2010 after 58 years of marriage.
Fred was a truck driver for UPS for 23 years until retiring. He had also been a school bus driver and had other jobs, but was still a farmer at heart.
Fred and Joanne enjoyed spending winters in Cape Canaveral, FL and playing Bingo and cards with friends. He was a loving and generous person, having donated regularly to his church and numerous charities.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Turbotville.
Surviving besides his wife, Joanne are three sons: Richard M. Cotner in South Carolina; Leslie J. Cotner of Northumberland; and Ronald T. Cotner and his wife Susan of Montgomery; four step-sons: George A. Raymond and his wife Charlene in Delaware; Bruce A. Raymond and his wife Ann in Maryland; John A. Raymond of Pennsylvania; and Kenneth A. Raymond of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Barbara Minnick of Milton.
Preceding him in death besides his first wife were two sons: Gary L. Cotner on Dec. 24, 1999 and Scott W. Cotner on June 16, 2017; and a brother, Walter Cotner.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10275 State Route 44, Watsontown with the Rev. Donald Snyder, his pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
