Florence Marion (Leiby) Benfer

Florence Marion (Leiby) Benfer, 89, of Watsontown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Gatehouse Hospice with her beloved nieces Glenda Stroud, Sue Miller, and Danielle Leiby by her side.  She was a resident of Warrior Run Manor where she enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo and all things Elvis.  She was born June 10, 1933 in Elimsport, a daughter of Myron and Mary Hazel Leiby.

She was a graduate of Montgomery High School.  She had been employed at the former Sylvania plant in Montoursville, had been a care-giver for mentally challenged men at the Devitt Camp in Allenwood, and had worked at Buffalo Valley Nursing Home.

Surviving are her two daughters Kandy (John) Gardner of Essex MD and Ruth Benfer of Cincinnati OH; three grandsons: Jason Gardner, Nicholas (Chelsea) Gardner, and Riley Hinkley; one granddaughter, Mallory Hinkley; a great-grandson, Lincoln Hinkley, a great-granddaughter, Charlie Gardner, and many nieces and nephews, including her two caregivers, Glenda Stroud and Sue Miller.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her five brothers: Walter Miller, Paul Miller, Daniel Leiby, James Leiby and Myron (Dutch) Leiby and two sisters: Helen Blank and Dorthy Leiby. 

The family will have a small private service at a later date with burial at the Elimsport Cemetery.
