Eleanor Mae Heisler Trefsger, 96, of Turbotville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. She was a resident of Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Eleanor was born on September 21, 1924 in Tamaqua, PA, to the late Warren and Edna (Frantz) Heisler.
She had a son, Lee, to her first husband and married Allen Trefsger of Turbotville on April 6, 1957, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Eleanor graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1942. She was a long time, active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Turbotville.
Eleanor thoroughly enjoyed sewing and painting. Allen was a prolific woodcarver of decoys, birds and relief plaques. He carved and Eleanor spent hours painting them, they were a true team. Most of these carvings were gifted to family.
Eleanor was also a quilter and her beautiful quilts are cherished by her family. Over the years she also made many stuffed animals (particularly teddy bears) and dolls. These were also gifted to family and are cherished possessions.
In her later years, Eleanor became an adept “word finder”. Typically, people look at the word find list and then find the words in the puzzle. Eleanor however, looked at the puzzle, found words and then looked to see if they were on the list.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Lee (Lynne) of Leesburg, FL; one step-daughter, Shirley Robbins, of Muncy; 12 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys (Richard) Cook, of Lemoyne; and one brother, Miles (Eleanor) Heisler, of Milton.
She was preceded in death by her two step-daughters, Mary Jane Heisler and Carole Martin; two brothers, Marlin and Curtis Heisler; and two sisters, Metra Heisler and Ruth Reisinger.
There will be a graveside service held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd, at Twin Hills Memorial Park in the Mausoleum, Muncy, with her pastor, the Rev. Erwin C. Roux, officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville. www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com
