E. Eugene Beaver, 95, of Milton, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at his home.
Born in Cowen, Union County, he was the son of the late Harry Allen and Mildred (Heintzelman) Beaver. On June 11, 1953 he married the former Marion A. Swartz and they have celebrated 71 years of marriage.
He was a 1947 graduate of Mifflinburg High School where he played on the first football team. He was a veteran of the US Army and member of the VFW Post 1665 and American Legion Post 247 of Lewisburg. He was a member of the Milton Lodge 256 F&AM and the masonic lodge of Williamsport; the Scottish Rite and the Williamsport Consistory; the Milton Moose Lodge; and the Austin-Costello Sportsmen's Club in Austin, PA. He was a founder of the Panther Cub program in Milton, an avid bowler and softball player, and he was a softball umpire.
He was a member of Follmer Lutheran Church, rural Milton, where he was a past council president and the superintendent of Sunday School.
Surviving besides his wife, Marion Beaver at home, are two children: Douglas E. Beaver of Milton and Debbie L. Beaver of New Columbia; three grandchildren: Jeremy Beaver and his wife Leah; Jennifer Zechman and her husband Tom; Jackson Beaver and his wife Megan; three great-grandchildren: Ethan and Trenton Zechman and Cayde Beaver; and a step-granddaughter, Cate Kowalski.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a daughter, Donna Beaver; four brothers: Bernard "Boots", Mervin, Bland, and Dale Beaver and a sister, Miriam "Sis" Beaver.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown where a Masonic memorial service will begin at 6:50 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Lisa Barnes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory may be made to either Follmer Lutheran Church or The Shriners.
