Donald H. Bigger, Jr., 83, of Turbotville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, the day of his 65thwedding anniversary, at his home.
Born September 28, 1941 in Lairdsville, he was the son of the late Donald H. Sr, and Ethel M. (Gray) Bigger. On October 13, 1959, he married the former Janet L. Keiser.
He was a graduate of Danville High School, where he excelled as a pitcher on the baseball team. Donald worked at AC&F for 32 ½ years, and with the help of his wife maintained a hog farm. After retirement he enjoyed hauling around Amish families for 17 ½ years.
Donald and Janet did everything together including, antiquing, gardening, traveling, and working around the house. He enjoyed hunting, baseball, farming, gardening and was also an avid Penn State fan. Donald also enjoyed, square and line dancing where he danced with his wife for the first time 65 years ago.
Donald was a member of Follmer Lutheran Church, Milton. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by his son: Jeffery D. (Kaylene) Bigger, of Milton; two daughters: Staci J. Calabro, of Turbotville and Lisa J. (Grant) Lapp, of New Columbia; 10 grandchildren: James A. Calabro, Carissa Rowles, Annette Longenecker, Clinton Bigger, Heather Weaver, Emily Yoder, Brandon Bigger, Tarah Yocum, Ashton Weikel, and Haleigh Boop; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters: Betty Meckley, of Milton, Mary (Carl) Buck, of Montgomery, Cheryl (John) Laudenslager, of Turbotville, and Donna (Jim) Reichard, of Watsontown.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Diane R. Bigger.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Revival Tabernacle, 960 Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kenneth Gehman, Lock Haven Mennonite Church, officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Follmer Lutheran Church Cemetery.
