Dennis D. "Denny" Clapper

Dennis D. “Denny” Clapper, 78, of Montgomery, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday May 26, 2020, at UPMC – Williamsport Hospital.

Born July 27, 1941 in Thurman, Iowa, he was the son of the late Leon & Beulah Clapper.  On June 18, 2004, he married the former Gretchen D. Guyer, and together they celebrated 15 years of marriage.

Denny was a 1960 graduate of Fremont Mills High School in Fremont, Iowa.  He served honorably in the US Air Force serving four years during the Vietnam War.

He worked for Springfield/Branson Regional Airport as an equipment mechanic, retiring in 2002 after 20 years of service.  Also, Denny enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his wife, Gretchen, he is survived by his daughter: Elizabeth Wells and her husband Richard, of Republic, Missouri; two grandchildren: Richard (Amber) Wells and Ryan Wells, both of Springfield, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Richard and Gracie Wells.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Clapper Jr., and sister, Arideth Kellogg.

Per his wishes there will be no viewing or services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in Denny’s name be made to your local VFW or American Legion or local fish and wildlife service.
