Catharine Livingston Obituary

Catharine I. (Stoudt) Livingston, 97, of Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born January 25, 1928, in New Berlin, she was a daughter of the late Spencer M. and Fannie M. (Edelman) Walker.  On March 31, 2004, she married William E. Livingston, and together they celebrated 20 years until his passing in 2024.

Catharine was a 1947 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.  She operated Stoudt’s Studio, Watsontown, for 26 years with her first husband, Robert J. Stoudt, to whom she was married for 51 years.

She was a faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Watsontown, where she participated in the Women’s Fellowship, and was a member of the Watsontown Guild.  She enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, baking, camping, and traveling, and was proud to have visited all fifty states.  Most of all, she loved her church and time spent with family and friends. 

Catharine is survived by two sons, Rev. Dr. Robert S. Stoudt and his wife, Hue, of Milton; and Gary J. Stoudt, of Turbotville; a stepson, Clarence R. “Skip” Livingston and his wife, Cathy, of Montgomery; two stepdaughters, Marcia L. Murray and her husband T. Shane, of Montandon, and Tammy Wolfe and her husband, John, of Turbotville; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Suzanne Meachum and her husband, David, of Port Richey, FL, and Sheryl Weaver, of Milton.

In addition to her parents and husband, William E. Livingston, Catharine was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert J. Stoudt; stepdaughter, Linda Knight; and daughter-in-law, Nel Stoudt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 602 Main Street, Watsontown, with her pastor, Rev. Donald Snyder, officiating.  Following the service, there will be a time to visit with the family in the church social hall.  Burial at Watsontown Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Catharine’s memory be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 602 Main Street, Watsontown, PA 17777.
