Brian Bryson Obituary

Brian Dewey Bryson, 63, of Allenwood, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Thursday, August 7, 2025 at UPMC, Williamsport.

Born June 17, 1962 in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late Richard “Dick”, Sr. and Mary Lou (Marshall) Bryson. On October 12, 1996 he married the former Erika K. Martinez and together they have celebrated 28 years of marriage.

Brian was a 1980 graduate of Warrior Run High School. He attended Williamsport Area Community College and graduated from their Technology Program in Auto Mechanics. Earlier in life, he worked for West Co., Masonite Corp., and helped with his parent’s sub shop, Bryson’s Place in Allenwood.  He also worked with Susquehanna Fire Equipment from 1995 to December 2023 as a fire equipment Hurst sales representative.

Brian was a 49-year member of the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, formerly serving as Chief and Captain at Allenwood. When the fire departments merged with the WRAFD, he was serving as Captain. Most recently, he was Chief Engineer and was well known as a pump operator and instructor.  He was well respected by the members of the fire department and always referred to them as his brothers or his boys. His favorite quote to them was “Go get em’ brothers”, just to hear them laugh.

He enjoyed fishing at Staggart’s Grove, campfires, and four-wheeling. Brian was incredibly resourceful and was the kind of guy who could MacGyver anything to get the job done.

His wife influenced him to be a Kansas City Chief's fan as well as the Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to his wife, Erika of Allenwood, Brian is survived by a brother, Richard H. Bryson, Jr. and his wife, Donelle, of Arcadia, Wisconsin; two sisters, Diana G. Johnson, of Watsontown, and Brenda L. Wesner, of Lewisburg; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Derrick and her husband, Matt, of Garner, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Kevin Johnson, Bob Morris, and Ronald Hively; and his father and mother-in-law, Casimiro and Carolyn Martinez.
