Bonita D. (Yoder) Bassion

Bonita D. Bassion, 78, of Bordentown, NJ, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Virtua Voorhees Hospital.

Born on August 6, 1946, in Bloomsburg, PA, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Kenneth R. Sr. and Betty E. (Pfleegor) Yoder. Raised on a dairy farm alongside her siblings, Kenneth Yoder and Ann Bratcher, Bonnie developed a strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility—values that shaped her entire life.

Bonnie was a lifelong advocate for education and a passionate educator. She earned two Master’s degrees and was recognized for her remarkable typing skills, winning numerous competitions. One of her favorite sayings was, “Education is something that no one can ever take from you.” She lived by these words, dedicating her career to teaching and positively impacting the lives of countless students.

As a single mother, Bonnie’s strength and perseverance shone brightly. She worked multiple jobs at times to provide for her family, raising her two sons with unwavering love and determination. She is survived by her sons: Seth Bassion and his wife Lori, along with their daughters, Jessica and Taylor; and Shan Bassion and his husband Mitchell Sammis.

In honor of Bonnie’s courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation to support ongoing research and find a cure.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Doug Schader. Bonnie will be laid to rest at Paradise Cemetery in Milton.
