William W. Hawley, 95, of Plotts Road, Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home.
Born September 11, 1923 in Cranston, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late George A. and Myrtella A. (Brown) Hawley. On June 26, 1948 he married the former Lillian A. Byrom and they celebrated 65 years of marriage until her death April 18, 2014.
A veteran of WWII, he served honorably with the US Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and was employed as an Agriculture Research Farm Manager for Rohm & Haas Company in Bucks County for 33 years. Following his retirement he worked at American Home Foods in Milton for nine years.
He enjoyed working in his workshop and garden and attended Friendship Baptist Church, McEwensville.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Joel D. and Carol Hawley, Ontario, Canada; Dennis W. and Carol Hawley, Watsontown; a daughter, Luanne B. Hawley, Watsontown; eight grandchildren: Kristen Turner and her husband Rick; Matthew, Kendra, and Elissa Hawley; Adrienne Janelle Deline; Jonathan and Daniel Hawley; Catrina Marchment and her husband Andy; six great-grandchildren: Megan and Ryan Turner; Annamaria, Elizabeth, Josiah, and Silas Deline.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were two brothers: Raymond G. and Burton G. Hawley, and a sister, Barbara P. Murray.
Family and friends are invited to call from 1 to 2:00 PM Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, 10 Voris Lane, Watsontown where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with his pastor, the Rev. Jason King officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
