Shirley M. (Yonkin) Guffey

Shirley M. Guffey, 85, of Hockley Hill Rd., Turbotville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2019 with her family by her side, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. 

Born July 28, 1934 in Gregg Twp., Union County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel “Roy” and Eva Mae (Ward) Yonkin.  She was married to Robert Wagner for 24 years until his passing in 1983, she was then married to Norman L. Guffey until his passing in 1994.

Shirley was a member of AARP and was a former member of The Spring Garden Church, in Allenwood.  She worked at Masonite of Watsontown, Rochell’s in Montgomery, and Looks of Montgomery.

She was an avid shopper at the local Flea Market and yard sales. Shirley enjoyed working in her flower gardens and finishing wood.  She especially loved spending time with her family and working around her home.

Shirley is survived by her companion of 15 years, Fred Johnson, of Watsontown; three daughters: Linda J. Guffey and her husband Ralph Jr., of Columbia, Eva Mae Wagner, of Turbotville, and Barbara Noll, of New Columbia; one step-daughter:  Barbara Rodgers, of New Columbia; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Yonkin, of Milton, and Larry Yonkin and his wife Ida, of Watsontown; one sister: Gloria “Moose” Smith and her husband Ronnie, of New Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husbands were her brothers: James and Floyd Yonkin; and her sister:  Mildred Beachel.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, September 16, at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 207 Broadway St, Turbotville, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor John H. Shaw III, officiating.  Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
