Ruth L. Ritter, 94, of Watsontown, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Watsontown Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Allenwood on March 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Mary L. (Pfleegor) Evans. On December 23, 1949, she married John S. Ritter and they celebrated 49 years of marriage until his passing on January 9, 1999.
A beautiful and delightful person, Ruth was loved by all who knew her for her sweet nature, gentle kindness and wonderful sense of humor.
An avid postcard collector and solitaire master, she always was ready to beat everyone at Scrabble or gin rummy. She disarmed her fellow game-players by keeping them laughing so much it was hard to concentrate. Even though she almost always won, she would graciously offer to “replay a round” giving her opponents another (usually futile) chance to win.
Her family was extremely privileged to have shared in her life and remain inspired by her exemplary approach to living.
Ruth will always be a bright light in our hearts. She radiated joy with her beaming smile and cheerful demeanor always highlighting our day. She was a lovely and kind soul whose pleasant, humble grace set a standard for us all to follow.
And while this moment may seem overwhelming, we celebrate her exceptional life. Wonderful qualities like hers live on forever.
She is survived by her daughter: Marguerite Krisher and her husband John, of California; a granddaughter: Sandra Butz; two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Korbin Butz; and two sisters: Janet Lawry and Patricia Yost.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents are her son: Richard F. Ritter; four brothers: Paul, Robert, Horace, and Joseph Evans; and two sisters: Alice Diehl and Frances Ritter.
In keeping with her wishes services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Watsontown Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown. www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com
