Robert C. Jarrett, 83, of Century Road, Danville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born August 30, 1935 in Lewis Twp., Northumberland County, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Cleora V. (Phillips) Jarrett. On November 9, 1985 he married the former Joyce I. Winter and they have celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Bob enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served his country honorably for 30 years, retiring as a Sgt.Major. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medals and several good conduct and expeditionary medals.
He was awarded the Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Cross of Gallantry, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Expert Badge and Pistol Expert Badge.
Following his military retirement, he worked at EDS (Electronic Data Systems) for 10 years under Ross Perot. Later he returned to the rural Danville area where he was a Derry Township Supervisor.
He was a life member of the Millville American Legion Post and the Muffly Huff Post #4206, VFW, Turbotville.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters: Mitzi Holiman and Cindy D. Jarrett; four sons: Rickey D. Jarrett and his wife Editha; Tony Scott Jarrett and his wife Ann; Mickey D. Jarrett and his wife Kat C. Ward; and Rodney N. Jarrett; eight grandchildren: Amber (Dana) Hardurck, Ryan and Nikki Jarrett, Shelia and Tony Ward, Heather LeAnn, Jamie Leigh, and Nicholas Jarrett; a great-granddaughter, Alison Hardurck; step-sons: David R. McCollum and his wife Christine; Russell I. McCollum, III and his wife Eileen; step-daughters: Nancy Quarles and Sue McCollum Hans and her husband Jim Hans; step-grandchildren: Shelly (Howie) Hack, Kressler Quarles, Karista and Tommy Hack and Colton McCollum; and his siblings: Earle F., Barbara A., Paul R., Cathleen E., and Charles C. Jarrett.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lowana Jarrett; and two brothers, William Edward and Richard C. Jarrett.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville, where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM, with Pastor Shawn McNett, officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Hills Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by the Millville American Legion.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
