Max Plymette Obituary

Max L. Plymette, 89, of Watsontown, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

Born February 20, 1930 in Watsontown, he was the son of the late Elwood E. and Florence E. (Bieber) Plymette.  On July 28, 1950 he married the former Kathleen Balliet and they have celebrated 68 years of marriage.

He was a 1947 graduate of Watsontown High School and attended the Williamsport Technical Institute.  During high school he worked at Ted's Garage, which his father owned.

Max retired from Sprout-Waldron Co., Muncy where he had worked 25 years. Earlier in life he was a butcher for Herman Balliet’s Meat Market in Watsontown.

He was an avid flyer of model airplanes and a member of the AMA--Academy of Model Aeronautics, a member of Susquehanna Valley RC, and the Cape Coral RC Hawks.

He traveled all over the world with his work at Sprouts, having spent time in Holland, Finland, China, and South America.

After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed spending half the year in Cape Coral, Florida.

He enjoyed woodworking and was a true “Mr. Fix-it”. 

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Watsontown.

Surviving besides his wife, Kathleen Plymette of Watsontown are three daughters: Debbe P. Zarr and her husband Gary of Riverton, WV; Kathy J. Diggan and her husband Wayne of Milton, and Traci A. Phillips and her husband Mitch of New Columbia; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kay Plymette on May 15, 1975; a grandson, Shane Matthew Zarr on June 23, 2018, two brothers: Marlin Plymette on Feb. 16, 2018 and Merle Plymette on Nov. 6, 2011; and a sister: Mary Louise Malcolm on April 4, 2019.

Family and friends are invited to call from 11 am to 12 pm on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown where the funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Gary Zarr, officiating and Rev. Stuart Lengel Jr, assisting.  Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.  After burial everyone is invited to join the family at Revival Tabernacle Church for a time of refreshments and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Max's memory be made to a charity of your choice or to SVRC (Susquehanna Valley RC), c/o Ken Hering, 143 Deer Foot Lane, New Columbia, PA 17856.
