Duane M. "Dewey" (Moyer) Summers

Duane M. “Dewey” Summers, 93, of Danville, passed on Friday, November 22, 2019 at her son’s home.

Born April 26, 1926 in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Jessie J. (Stewart) Moyer. On October 15, 1949, she married the late William F. Summers and they celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Duane was a 1944 graduate of Newport Township High School. She was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson Hospital of Nursing School in Philadelphia. She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville. 

She worked as a nurse at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Duane also worked as an associate administrator at Grandview Nursing Home, Danville. 

Duane enjoyed needlepoint and planting flowers.

She is survived by her son: Tom R. Summers and his wife Gail, of Riverside; her daughter: Christine S. Wesolowski and her husband Steve, of Danville; four grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Duane is preceded in death by her two sons: Michael Summers on December 3, 2011 and Joel Summers on September 21, 2017. 

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 26th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 215 E. Market St., Danville, PA where a funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM, with Reverend Trevor Hahn.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Duane’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
