Donald L. Neyhard, 86, of Hershey, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1932 in rural Watsontown, he was the son of the late J. Albert and Helena M. (Shupp) Neyhard.
He was a 1950 graduate of the former North-Mont High School, Turbotville and a graduate of the former Williamsport Technical Institute, now PA College of Technology. In 1974 he graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology.
Don served honorably as a US Army Military Policeman during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
He retired from AMP Inc., Harrisburg in 1993 after a 36-year career as a Patent and Trademark Analyst in the patent division of the company.
He was an accomplished artist, specializing in pencil drawings of carvings and etchings of Albrecht Durer. Many of his “praying hands” drawings have been donated to several churches, including Zion and Holy Spirit Lutheran Churches in Turbotville; Ascension Lutheran Church in Willow Street; Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra; Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport and Washingtonville Lutheran Church; as well as to the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey.
Don was member of Prince Edwin-Spring Creek Masonic Lodge #406, Middletown and Conewago American Legion Post #329, Elizabethtown for over 60 years; a member of Hummelstown Area Historical Society and the Warrior Run Fort Freeland Historical Society, Turbotville.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donita L. and Gregory G. Hess of Palmyra; a grandson, Derek Hess and a granddaughter, Molly Hess and her fiancée Benjamin Knox; a brother-in-law, Clair W. Keefer, South Williamsport; two sisters-in-law: Helen Neyhard, Milton and Mary Neyhard, Hillsboro, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Carroll C. Neyhard (1990), Kenneth A. Neyhard (2004) and W. Milford Neyhard (2009); and three sisters: Dorathy L. Mihalyco (1999), Joy M. Keefer (2011), and Eleanor L. Walter (2011).
Family and friends are invited to call from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise Street, Turbotville where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
