Calvin C. “Cal” Temple, 93, of Washingtonville, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at his home.
Born December 3, 1924 in Wolf Twp., Lycoming Co., he was the son of the late Samuel and Clara (Sherwood) Temple. On November 16, 1946, he married the former Betty Lucille Strouse and they celebrated 37 years of marriage until her passing on December 15, 1983.
Cal was an US Army Veteran, serving during WWII in North Africa, Silicy, and the remainder in Italy. He worked at TRW, Danville, retiring in 1987. He also had been a truck driver for the former Turbotville Block Company earlier in his life.
He was a life member of the Muffly-Huff Post #8206 VFW, Turbotville, and a member of Muncy American Legion Post #268, Washingtonville Fire Co., and 40&8 Voiture in Williamsport.
Cal enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing at the fire hall. He also enjoyed working on lawnmowers and fixing many things.
He is survived by his son: James C. Temple and his wife Sandra M., of Milton; two grandchildren: Sam Temple and his wife Heather, of Danville, and Crystal Doresky and her husband John, of Milton; three great-grandchildren: Evan and Gracie Doresky, and Logan Temple; and one sister: Julia Myer, of Muncy.
In addition to his parents and wife, Cal was preceded in death by his five brothers: John, Brittan, Mylard, Paul, and Morris Temple; and one sister: Lucinda Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, November 30, at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 207 Broadway St, Turbotville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Doug Schader, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
