Bessie G. Trate

Bessie G. Trate, 88, formerly of Watsontown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown where she had been residing recently.

Born April 10, 1934 in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Tressie (Reibsome) Trate.

She was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School and a 1957 graduate of Susquehanna University.  She was employed for 27 years at the former Watsontown Bank (Sun Bank) and was the secretary/bookkeeper at First Evangelical Lutheran Church for 19 years until retiring.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Watsontown and served as a former secretary of the church council.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and earlier in life, traveling.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are a brother, Leroy Trate in Mifflinburg and a sister Arlene Schooley of Millville, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister, Irene Kerstetter.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc, PC., 124 Main Street, Watsontown where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux, Interim Pastor of First Lutheran Church, Watsontown officiating.  Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
