Edward L. “Ed” Milunic, 86, of McEwensville, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born March 25, 1937 in Luzerne, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Lugar) Milunic. On September 5, 1959 he married the former Mary Baran, and together they celebrated 47 years of marriage until her passing on July 8, 2007.
Ed was a 20-year US Navy Veteran, retiring on August 1, 1975. He served on the USS Saratoga and the USS Kennedy, on cruises in the Mediterranean. Also, he was an officer in Rhode Island and a career counselor in Jacksonville.
Later in life he worked at Grumman’s in Montgomery, and for Shippers Car Line in Milton where he retired after 25 years of service. Ed was a member of the American Legion Bower Decker Post 251, Montgomery. Also, he was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy. Ed loved golfing and was a member of Wynding Brook Golf Club, Milton.
He is survived by his children: Edward L. Milunic, Jr, and his wife Cindy, of Watsontown, and Carol Bridges, of Limestoneville; 6 grandchildren: Tierny, Joshua, Zachary, Amanda Bridges, Shawn, and Abby Milunic; 13 great-grandchildren: MaKenna, Stella, Aliza, Leon, Nova, Alice Conrad, Rayla, and Rhylyn Bridges, Aidan Tibbles, Tristan Feaster, Lincoln, Jackson, and Mara Milunic; and one sister: Mary Ann Horn.
Besides his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by his daughter: Catherine Milunic; five brothers: John, Joseph, Charles, George and Victor Milunic; and one sister: Teresa Regalis.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, April 2, at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM with Father Sean Carpenter, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in his memory be made to his church.
