Ruth I. St.Clair, 89, formerly of Comly Road, Turbotville passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Lewisburg where she had resided the past 4 ½ years.

Born December 21, 1922 in Ottawa, Montour County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Anna R. (Yocum) Rice. She was married to Allen L. St.Clair for 66 years until his death July 4, 2008.

Ruth and her husband were self-employed dairy farmers in rural Turbotville for over 50 years.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville for more than 50 years and a member of their women’s guild.

She was a member of Dairylea, an avid crafter, baker and gardener. She cherished her family and loved family events.

Surviving are four children: Shirley (Ted) Menges, Watsontown; John “Sonny” (Barbara) St.Clair, and Mary (Ray) Mertz, all of Turbotville; and Ileen Ranck, Watsontown; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, 2 step-great-great-grandsons, and two brothers: Samuel Rice, Lewisburg and George Rice, Montandon.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were four sisters: Clara Ranck, Dora Whery, Mildred Baker, and Christiann Ackley; three brothers: Elwood, Walter, and John Rice; a son-in-law, Glen Ranck; and three grandchildren: Michael and Rebecca Menges and Stacey St.Clair.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville and from 10 to 11 AM Monday where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM with her pastor, Doug Shader officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ruth’s memory be made to either Trinity United Church of Christ, PO Box 269, Turbotville PA 17772 or Sun Home Health Hospice, 61 Duke Street, PO Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.
